“I thrive on structure and spontaneity.” That’s how Gareth Boyd describes his life as the Head of Growth at Credit Card Compare, Australia’s leading credit card comparison platform.

With the Head Office based in Sydney, the company connects millions of Australians with the right financial tools, but Boyd isn’t your typical desk-bound executive. He orchestrates the brand’s growth while splitting his time between the United Kingdom and Singapore, all while managing family life.

Boyd works remotely, a setup that many embraced during the pandemic but few have mastered with his finesse. Yet for him, this lifestyle was intentional from the start.

His work-from-anywhere ethos allows him to balance professional demands with personal priorities — a challenge when your clients, team, and stakeholders are scattered across multiple time zones.

Brothers in business and building success together

Credit Card Compare was founded by his brothers, Andrew and David Boyd, over a decade ago. The siblings are opposites in some ways, but their differences are the secret ingredient to their shared success.

“We divide and conquer,” Gareth explains. “Andrew’s strengths lie in day-to-day operations, while I focus on growth and partnerships. David has always been about dreaming ideas up, moonshots we like to call them. We don’t compete — instead, we collaborate.”

The three also share a commitment to keeping the business lean, innovative, and firmly customer-centric. “Credit Card Compare’s mission has always been to simplify finance for Australians,” Boyd says. “It’s a universal need — everyone wants better financial choices.”

Remote life looks like this, work, family and more work

A day in Boyd’s life is anything but ordinary. His mornings often start in the UK, where he spends time with his family — his wife and two children.

By mid-morning, he’s on video calls with the Sydney team, brainstorming marketing strategies or analysing growth data.

Afternoons might see him consulting on a partnership with a Singapore-based fintech or testing out website improvements designed to enhance the user experience.

When asked how he manages the demands of such a dynamic lifestyle, Boyd laughs. “It’s all about non-negotiables,” he says. “Family dinner, daily exercise, copious amounts of coffee, supplements, and consistent sleep are must-haves. Everything else fits around that.”

His top productivity tip? “Batching. I cluster similar tasks into blocks. It’s easier to focus when you don’t have to jump between unrelated things.”

Blurring the lines between work and life

The line between work and family often blurs for Boyd, but he views it as a strength, not a challenge. “My wife kind of knows what I do, and I like to think she sees hard work in action which will have a knock-on effect on our kids in the future,” he says. “But I also try my best to make sure to unplug when needed.”

Even in his downtime, Boyd’s entrepreneurial spirit shines. He enjoys discovering new tools or strategies to optimise both his personal and professional life. “Growth isn’t just a job; it’s a mindset,” he explains.

Why the future is remote and collaborative

Boyd believes remote work is here to stay, especially for businesses with global ambitions like Credit Card Compare. “It’s about trust and results,” he says. “We’ve proven that you don’t need everyone in the same room to drive impact. Flexibility breeds innovation.”

His final advice for aspiring remote leaders? “Focus on communication and clarity. Over-communicate if needed. A shared vision makes everything possible, even across oceans.”
